Mental Health Awareness Week

Focuses on the importance of mental well-being and reducing stigma.

Activities:

  • Mindfulness sessions: Guided breathing or meditation exercises.

  • Emotion journals: Encourage students to express feelings through writing or art.

  • Wellness walks: Promote physical activity and reflection.

  • Physical Exercise: Open the school gym after school for students to access

  • Bingo: Create a mental health bingo game for the week encouraging students to try different coping strategies, self-care activities.

  • Scavenger Hunt: Students could make things like art, crotchet hearts (or anything) which could be hidden around the yard before lunch.

School-wide Awareness:

  • Create a "mental health wall" with resources and positive messages. Students could add their own. Use origami paper and make these messages in to a beautiful display of origami cranes.

  • Organise talks with mental health professionals.

  • Organise a breakfast morning

  • Form time wellbeing activities such as board games or learning a new skill

  • At lunch you could have rent a board game station, play music, have a bake sale.
